Blue Sky Counseling is seeking a substance use counselor for our Lewiston location who is passionate about the recovery process, a team player, and versatile with programming. This location offers a small team setting, focused on meeting people where they are at, with a diverse client base. We offer a variety of opportunities and treatment possibilities for in-person and online services, including the Opioid Health Home model of care, Intensive Outpatient Program, Driver Education Evaluation Program, and Individual Substance Use Counseling. We strive to match individual counselors’ preferences, preferred modalities, and skill sets to the programs while meeting the needs of the people we serve. Although our Lewiston team is small, we are growing, and our staff is part of an innovative, diverse, strengths-based network of addiction professionals at locations across the state.
Blue Sky Counseling emphasizes the implementation of best practices in the treatment of addiction, coupled with a variety of services to assist our clients with a holistic approach to care. Intake Coordinator, Waterville Office
Are you an enthusiastic yet task-oriented professional with an understanding of substance use and mental health struggles, looking to support people accessing services? Blue Sky Counseling is seeking a skilled intake coordinator to support our growing agency and team by getting people linked to the right services. This position will work through the referral and intake process from the start of cultivating referents, getting into the community, and providing information on all services, to taking calls from someone needing assistance with their substance use or mental health. Assessing the right program and the fit for that person to be successful requires an empathic and open mind. This position will need to have a strong understanding of available programming and eligibility, be able to discuss all options, problem solve barriers, set up appointments, and build relationships.
This position serves as the initial point of contact for clients, families, community providers, and referral agencies when reaching the agency. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, effective oral and written communication, as well as an empathetic perspective when engaging and encouraging people in need of treatment.
Additional skills that would lend well to this position include being detail-oriented, organized, tracking information, being able to prioritize responsibilities with the clients coming first, and remaining focused and positive in stressful situations. The ability to train other staff for coverage and work with partnering agencies in the community is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as being a team player and collaborating across departments within the agency.
This position is critical to support someone who may be really struggling through the intake process and on their path to getting the treatment they need. Blue Sky provides a variety of services for substance use and mental health, including the Opioid Health Home model of care, Intensive Outpatient Program, Driver Education Evaluation Program, Individual Substance Use Counseling, Case Management, and more.
Preference for this position will be given to candidates who have experience working with people who identify with having substance use or mental health struggles, candidates who have at least a two-year degree, four years preferred, and people with professional experience in networking.

Senior Mainecare Billing and Authorization Specialist

Blue Sky Counseling is seeking an organized and experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Mainecare Billing and Authorization Specialist. Join our team of dynamic, diverse, strengths-based addiction professionals guiding people in their journey to recovery. We are a growing, innovative, recovery-oriented substance use treatment program offering a variety of recovery-based programming. Our program emphasizes implementation of best practices in the treatment of addiction coupled with a variety of services to assist our clients with a holistic approach to care.
The Senior Mainecare Billing and Authorization Specialist will be overseeing all Mainecare Billing and Authorizations including registrations, following up on denials, auditing transactions and incoming payments. Functions are preformed through utilizing many systems such as Mainecare, Healthpas, Atrezzo/Kepro, data entry points including Google Spreadsheets and EMR platforms. This position will be responsible for thoroughly documenting invoicing, tracking receipts, preparing reports, managing and auditing accounts for discrepancies and collaborating with Mainecare billing and internal billing support staff. This position is responsible for all client billing delegation and processing, compliance to authorize payments, and accurate data entry across systems.
Blue Sky Counseling is a growing agency, and this position will assist with identifying processes and procedures, initiating systems and auditing practices for consistency to continue to grow and reduce barriers to the people we serve. The Senior Mainecare Billing and Authorization Specialist will implement new tracking systems and procedures as needed and work closely with the executive director to oversee incoming revenue and follow through on goals. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, effective oral and written communication as well as a very detail oriented individual able to work across systems accessing and relaying data. A positive attitude and a general understanding of substance use and recovery is essential, with the ability to create an understanding and non-judgmental environment for people to engage in treatment.
Minimum Education/Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field preferred
- 5 or more years of experience in a financial or related field
- Mainecare and insurance billing experience required
- Must be extremely detail oriented, possess excellent organizational skills and be highly dependable.
- Demonstrate Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of local, state and federal regulations, billing guidelines and insurance expectations.

Recovery Coach

Blue Sky Counseling is currently seeking a part time Recovery Coach. This position will start at 8 hours weekly and has the opportunity for expansion based on need. The Recovery Coach supports people working through their recovery process from a supportive place of personal experience. This position is a crucial member of an interdisciplinary team and brings the perspective of recovery experience to a team made up of counselors and medication assisted treatment providers.
The Recovery Coach is a person in a place of their own personal recovery that is willing to disclose their story as relevant and appropriate to assist others in their process working in individual and group settings. This position will work within the recovery communities to foster relationships, link people in need to programming and share the agency mission. This position also supports with customer service, assisting clients with accessing care, navigating services through directing to appropriate staff as needed, and clinical staff support. Requiring a high degree of professionalism, effective oral and written communication. A positive attitude with the ability to create an understanding and non-judgmental environment for people to engage in treatment is essential.
